Gang-Nail Helps Construct New Rehabilitation Center

A new rehabilitation centre in Cornwall has recently been constructed by Tru-Truss using Gang-Nail™s Ecojoists, providing a residential rehabilitation centre. Ecojoists were selected for Bosence Farm Community for their long-spanning capabilities.

The Ecojoist offers increased strength capabilities compared to other timber joist systems, which, due to the long, continuous nature of the structure, made it ideal for use on the Bosence Farm Community project.

The Ecojoist system itself is made from galvanised steel webs and stress graded timber flanges, yet is 40% lighter than the equivalent solid timber joists. Although Ecojoists are lightweight, this does not impair the quality or versatility of the product.

Andy Stopford, Manager of Tru-Truss, commented, œEcojoists were chosen for the Bosence Farm project as they offered better span capabilities compared to standard solid timber joists. According to the architect™s requirements, it was necessary to ensure that the eaves of the building were protected, and an air-tight construction was created. By ˜top hanging™ the Ecojoists, these requirements were met and eliminated the need to use joist hangers, which in turn generated both financial and constructional time savings, helping to speed up the overall building process.

Ecojoists deliver a stronger, more durable roof structure that can withstand heavy loads, which is especially important when considering the material with which the roof will finally be clad.

Paul Baron, Managing Director of Gang-Nail Systems, said, œBy comparison to similar timber joists, the Ecojoist offers an array of advantages, the most significant of which being its light weight, which helps to speed up the installation process. Due to the size of the Bosence Farm project, long spanning joists were required. As such, Ecojoists were ideal and could be quickly and easily installed, helping to provide a strong basis for the exterior aesthetic structure of the roof itself.
